2014 Jeep Liberty Replacement Spied on Streets of Detroit with Upscale Interior

While details are still a little sparse on the upcoming 2014 Jeep Liberty replacement, we know that it’s going to be a crossover based on the Dodge Dart, which should aid its fuel economy numbers. After today, we have a few more details to add, as our spy photographers have caught sight of its uncovered interior.

nside the 2014 Liberty replacement, the focal point of the dash is the 8.4-inch touchscreen that sprawls across the width of the center stack, flanked by two air conditioning vents. Buttons visible on the dash appear to be for collision avoidance, lane departure, and parking assist functions. There’s also Jeep’s Selec-Terrain dial, as also seen in the Jeep Grand Cherokee, and USB and SD card ports.

The design is reminiscent of the higher-trim Dodge Dart models, which share the large screen in the dash, and gauges in between the tachometer and speedometer.

But the bigger story might be with the outside of this tech-laden crossover than its interior.

Curvaceous, the 2014 Jeep Liberty replacement looks more like a Honda CR-V or Hyundai Santa Fe than the blocky Liberty it replaces. Peeking out from underneath its vinyl wrappings are thin, high-mounted headlights and tail lights said to give the small crossover more international appeal in the styling department. Exhaust pipes stick out from each side of the crossover, giving it a sporting flare.

Up front, the grill looks wide and narrow, with a three-dimensional effect from the Liberty replacement’s gently bowing grille, not unlike what BMW and Buick have been implementing on their recent models to give their grilles more visual depth.

The 2014 Jeep Liberty replacement is scheduled to make its debut at the end of March at the New York Auto Show. We have a feeling it’s going to be quite a departure for the brand.
